About this guide

How the Shortlist works

Each card in the Shortlist holds published facts about one casino, all checked on October 7, 2026. When kept cards stand side by side, the rows where they differ are marked, and nothing is ranked.

What each card compares

Each of the nine casinos gets one card, and every card carries the same rows. They cover floor hours, days with live tables, poker, a hotel on site or next door, RV parking, shows, food, and who runs the casino. Where a casino publishes nothing on a row, the card says so. Silence never counts as yes or no.

The Shortlist runs in your browser. You keep a card or skip it, and the kept cards stand side by side with the rows where they differ marked.

Cards come in alphabetical order, or shuffled at random when you ask for it. Neither order puts one casino above another.

Hours and the clock

All hours are local Saskatchewan time, as each casino publishes them. The province stays on Central Standard Time all year under The Time Act, 2026, so its clock always matches Alberta's.

Each card lays the hours out as one week from Monday. Hours that run past midnight belong to the day they started. A late close stays on the line of the evening it began. Where a casino's own pages give different figures, the card leaves the figure out.

Casino Regina's own pages give different Sunday hours, so its card gives no Sunday floor time. Northern Lights Casino does not say whether its Saturday 24 hours run past midnight. Its Sunday from 12 AM to 9 AM is therefore not stated either way. Both were read again on October 9, 2026. Holiday hours are not given, so check the casino's own site.

Distances and card faces

Every distance on a card is a straight line, not a driving distance. The guide computes it from the OpenStreetMap coordinates of each casino to three points: Saskatoon City Hall, Regina City Hall and Prince Albert. No travel times are given.

Where no free photo of a casino exists, its card face is drawn by code. The drawing places the casino as a dot on an outline of Saskatchewan from Natural Earth, which is public domain. Beside it sit the straight-line distances to Saskatoon and Regina and the published week of floor and live-table hours. Photos come from Wikimedia Commons under free licences and are credited where they appear.

Sources and dates

Facts on the cards were checked on October 7, 2026. They come from the casinos' own pages, SIGA and LGS pages, Government of Saskatchewan releases and other official sources.

Slot counts are rounded where a casino's site and SIGA's profile differ, so a card may read "about 600" or "more than 500". For other figures, if a casino's own pages disagree, the card leaves the figure out or says the pages differ.

Questions, side by side

Are the kilometres on a card road distances?

No, each one is a straight line from OpenStreetMap coordinates to Saskatoon City Hall, Regina City Hall or Prince Albert. No travel times are given.

Why is no casino ever called the best?

The Shortlist ranks nothing. Cards come in alphabetical order or shuffled at random, and the rows where kept cards differ are marked.

What does "not published" mean on a card?

The casino publishes nothing on that row, and the card says so. Silence counts as neither yes nor no.
